Oscar Rabine
According to Vladimir Nemukhin, in the 1960s Oscar Rabin was “the most programmatic and conceptual of all the masters of the underground”. Yet, the concept invariably merges with the sublime picturesque culture in his paintings. According to the French art historian Nicole Lamothe, the art of Rabin, “carries not only a powerful emotional charge, but also a sensually vivid perception”, which has acquired new overtones in the years of exile.
